We complete the installation in less than a day. The tub or shower can be used 48 hours later to allow the adhesive sealant to fully cure.
We always clean up before we leave—something we take pride in and our Google reviews reflect.
Most fiberglass, acrylic, stamped steel, and cast iron tubs can be converted. Some cultured marble, ABS/mobile home plastic, and certain whirlpool tubs may also be eligible, though with more limitations.
Clawfoot tubs, garden tubs with built-in steps, tubs with liners installed over them, and some mobile home tubs cannot be converted.
Before starting, we fold the shower curtain over the rod and remove nearby items like rugs or shelves. We thoroughly clean the tub to ensure a strong bond, use a vacuum while cutting to minimize airborne particles, and clean the tub and floor before leaving.
Just the way it should be!
We stock most kits in white and beige.
Ultra-Low and Deep Step X-WIDE kits are only available in white.
Most installs use white, as it blends best with white or biscuit-colored tubs.
Beige kits are only recommended for tubs that are clearly beige or brown.
White kits are used for blue, green, gray, or pink tubs.
Beige kits on biscuit tubs tend to look too dark.
No, shower doors must be removed—you'll need to switch to a shower curtain.
We can remove the doors for an additional charge. The tracks are typically sealed with silicone, which we carefully remove using various methods. Side tracks usually have three screws each, and we fill the holes with waterproof caulk in white or beige.
Note: Older tubs may show some discoloration where the bottom track was due to fading, bleaching, or other factors. Rust is rare, but we have encountered it.
No! When installed correctly, the unit fits tightly to your tub. The industrial-grade adhesive sealant used is high-strength, flexible yet firm, and won’t become brittle. It forms a durable bond even between dissimilar materials.
The Convertible model includes a watertight insert with two bulb seals along the bottom, allowing it to be used as a full bath. Each unit is leak-tested at the factory before shipping.
The kit is made from durable composite polyethylene. It’s strong, long-lasting, easy to clean, and designed to bond securely to various tub materials while maintaining a clean, finished look.
Yes! The installed step through section includes a customized structural support under it. After the 48 hour cure time for the adhesive sealants it can be safely stepped on during normal use.
The step-through unit has a slip-resistant texture on the bottom where you step.
This depends on two main factors: the tub dam height (the part you step over) and the desired kit. Not all kits fit every tub.
The Services section of our website lists the kits and their maximum "drop"—the distance from the top of the dam down to the new step-in height. However, the maximum drop isn't guaranteed if the kit needs to be raised to fit, which may result in a higher step-in height.
Most tubs allow for at least an 8-inch drop, while taller tubs can achieve up to 13¼ inches. It's best to consult us directly rather than rely solely on these measurements.
A shower curtain, just like one used in a standalone shower, will prevent splashing. It needs to be set at the correct height to cover the opening. The step-through section is also angled slightly to direct water back into the tub if needed.
When the curtain is the correct length and fully closed, water should not reach the step during use. However, if the curtain is too short or left open, water may exit the shower—just like any shower that uses a curtain.
The Convertible, with its watertight insert, installs and removes quickly and easily, allowing you to switch between a full bath and a step-in shower as needed. The insert weighs just a few pounds and is secured with two large hand screws featuring brass threads and inserts.
It’s a great option for grandkids, guests, washing pets, or others in the home who may want a full bath. It’s also worth considering for resale in a one-bathtub home.
When not in use, the insert should be stored upside down with the bulb seals facing up. This prevents the seals from sticking to painted surfaces or becoming deformed over time from uneven storage. Do not place anything on top of the insert while stored, as this can damage the seals.
Proper care of the bulb seals is essential, as they are key to preventing leaks during a full bath (also see the cleaning Q&A). With proper storage, the insert will last a long time.
No. The insert only fits the Convertible body and won’t work with any other kit. However, we can remove a standard Step unit and install a Convertible later if you decide to upgrade. The Convertible cannot be retrofitted into a Deep Step or Ultra-Low opening, as their cutout areas are too low.
Yes, we can install grab bars on most surfaces, though some have limitations.
Grab bar installation is limited to our local service area unless combined with a tub conversion. For example, we can’t drive three hours just to install a few grab bars—but we will if a tub conversion is also ordered.
Gentle, non-abrasive household cleaners are recommended. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive tools.
Bulb seals should be cleaned with a soft rag and mild soap as needed, or once a month if the insert remains in the tub body.
Yes. We frequently install in tenant-occupied units.
If you're the tenant, we require a written letter from the landlord, property manager, or owner granting permission for the bathroom modification. The letter must include:
Full names
The address of the property
Landlord/owner contact information
Payment responsibility (who will be paying)
Type of modification (tub cutout, grab bars, etc.)
Ideally, the letter should be on company letterhead, if available.
For bath-to-shower conversions using any of the kits featured on this website, we offer a limited labor warranty of 5 years for personal use in owner-occupied homes and 1 year for tenant-occupied or commercial units, excluding normal wear and tear. Manufacturer warranties apply to materials.
As of this writing, we’ve never had a callback or warranty claim on a tub conversion—a testament to the product quality and our commitment to doing the job right.
Our motto: "Do it right the first time, and you don’t have to go back."
